Biography
Luis Matias is Research Officer in the Buildings Department of the National Laboratory for Civil Engineering. He has a degree in Technological Physics from Sciences Faculty of Lisbon University since 1993 and a PhD in Civil Engineering from Technical University of Lisbon since 2010. He is the Coordinator of the Thermal Insulation Laboratory in LNEC. At LNEC, he works in consultancy work for external entities and he has participated in several national and international research projects. He is an expert in indoor thermal comfort, thermal performance and energy efficiency in buildings. Since 1991, he has been participated in several national and international research projects, namely “ESBU – Energy Efficient Sportive Buildings – Leading the way towards a sustainable environment” (4.130/Z/1-137); “Net Zero Energy School - Reaching the community” (MIT-Pt/SES-UES/0037/2008), “Development of sustainable thermal and visual comfort models” (PTDC/ECM/71914/2006) and “Highly efficient cladding eco-panels with improved nano-insulation properties (GELCLAD)”. He has supervised several Master Thesis and is Member of National and International Technical Committee (CT 151 - Thermal insulation in buildings, TC 356 - Conservation of Cultural Heritage of Working Group WG8 - Energy efficiency of historic buildings and TC 89 - Thermal performance of buildings and building components). He is the author of many papers published in Proceedings of Congresses and in national and international scientific journals, including articles in indexed scientific journals. In his Ciência Vitae curriculum, the most frequent terms in the context of scientific and technological production are: Thermal comfort; Infrared thermography; buildings thermal performance; thermal insulation solutions.
